DESCRIPTION
In the heart of Provence, 20 minutes from Toulon, the vineyard of Rimauresq extends over 60 hectares, at the foot of Notre Dame des Anges. It takes its name from the Moors River (Maures, Real Mauresque), which crosses the Domain.
The microclimate of Rimauresq is a real singularity of the Côtes de Provence appellation.
The vineyard, located at an altitude between 140 to 190 meters, enjoys the combined influence of the beneficial effects of the Mistral and the shade of Notre Dame des Anges.
Nine noble grape varieties make up the Rimauresq vineyard. Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Cabernet Sauvignon for the reds, Rolle for the whites, finally Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Tibouren and Ugni-Blanc for the rosés.
In Rimauresq, everything is done to preserve the best of the fruit of the vine. A modern cellar half buried allows to treat the grapes by gravity.
In 1882 the vineyard devastated by phylloxera is reconstituted by Augustin Isnard. In 1885, Rimauresq obtains a silver medal in Toulon for the reconstitution of the vineyard and the quality of its wines. The Wemyss family, of Scottish origin, acquires Rimauresq from the Isnard family in 1988. They started the conversion to Organic Farming in 1997.
