DESCRIPTION
A family estate in the south of the Rhône Valley, Château Mourgues du Grès is nestled between vineyards and orchards, at the foot of the Costières de Nîmes.
A former agricultural estate of the Ursulines de Beaucaire since the 16 th century, the estate owes its name to the nuns called ‘Mourgues’ in the Provençal language. ‘Grès’ comes from the rounded rocks of the Costières de Nîmes that give our wine their character.
François Collard shows you the wilderness of this terroir and creates a balanced union of richness and minerality. He came back to the family estate in 1990, confident in the potential of the terroir and the prospects of the new designation of the Costières de Nîmes Label of Origin. It was precision in the vineyard coupled with a taste for innovation that led to the bottling of the first wine in 1993.
All the actions, be it in the vineyard or the cellar, are guided by our mindfulness of Nature, and respect for the terroir and the Environment. Our official certification in Organic Agriculture in 2004 corresponds to these convictions.
