Societa Agricola Benedetti & Grigi

DESCRIPTION

The two Families (Benedetti and Grigi) have a long history of enterpreneurs in the food and beverage business in Umbria. Around 2012 they decided to join forces, put together the two properties/vineyards and produce quality wines under the same roof in what is today the location of the winery in Loc. La Polzella.

First thing they did was to appoint a high profile professional as wine maker, Daniele Di Mambro. First, he was mapping the vineyards to better know what quality to expect from each plot and how to deal, in the fields, with each plot. He came up with the idea of producing two selection of wines: Gaita del Falco and B&G. The first refers to wines who are produced from grapes coming from younger vines, lower elavation vineyards, the second come from higher elevation, older vines that produce much less quantity.

In 2014 was the first vintage totally produced under the new Benedetti&Grigi operation. The first vintage of Benedetti&Grigi Sagrantino docg won a Gold Medal (95 points) fr Decanter UK and 2 Red Glasses from Gambero Rosso 2019 Guide (it went through to the very final selection).
