Vignobles Mayard

DESCRIPTION

At the end of the 19th Century, Gratien Mayard was hesitating about leaving for the United States after the phylloxera crisis; but the love affair with his native land proved too overpowering. Replanting his vineyard vine by vine, he played his part in making his successors the proud owners of a leading domaine (estate). Today the Mayard family and its team take care of running and modernising the domaine.

The family-run estate nestles in the heart of the prestigious village of Châteauneuf du Pape. It is currently managed by Françoise, Béatrice and Didier Mayard, from the fifth generation of owners.

The estate spreads across 43 hectares, featuring a huge diversity of terroirs and grape varieties.

The rigour and passion that the team brings to bear are reflected in three cuvées, each the fruit of the work of successive generations.

Determined to follow a policy of Agriculture Raisonnée, or sustainable farming that focuses on green issues, priority is given to expressing terroir by controlling yields. Each of our wines gives full expression to the vineyard’s terroirs and grape varieties.
